This outstanding group of volunteers is a grassroots organization dedicated to inspiring underserved children with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for success in the future. To this end, Reading to Kids gathers hundreds of children and volunteers for reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month. The monthly reading clubs do not require an ongoing commitment - volunteers can choose to participate at a reading club whenever their schedules permit.

The reading groups meet at any one of the now EIGHT schools on our website, so be sure to visit the website for exact directions and to RSVP - THIS IS ESSENTIAL!

If and when you arrive, and you'll likely meet people from all walks of life in and around Los Angeles. After the reading is concluded, we invite all the volunteers to meet at El Cholo restaurant on Western Avenue for a social hour with free appetizers.

It is a great opportunity for individuals to join a casual volunteer effort, as well as corporate and student groups to build cohesion and be a grassroots member of truly hands-on community service project. I can't say enough great things about it!

With an outstanding October behind us, November is looking to be equally enriching, with some great books and entertaining arts & crafts to do. Don't miss out on this rewarding activity, and it would be great if you can bring some friends. Tell them that this is a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of great people and help our Los Angeles community. We really need everyone's help. Read more

“I had the opportunity to teach philosophy to young children last semester and loved it. Volunteering my time to read to children is a great way to give back to our community and support the arts.”
