Servathon 2008: Painting & landscaping project @ Anne Beers Elementary & party

OUR Site (Anne Beers Elementary) is now full! You can still RSVP yes for this event but please note you will not be at our same school. We will be sure to meet afterwards however for the afterparty.

Join us for the Greater Washington Servathon 2008. This year, Greater DC Cares has dedicated this day of service to the DC Public Schools as part of their "Volunteer for DC Public Schools" Campaign. The goal is to mobilize 3,000+ volunteers to complete 30 service projects at DC Public Schools. Our groups goal is to raise $1000 and have 50+ of our members participate in this effort.

Service activities will involve beautifying and repairing interior and exterior of a DC public school.

Examples of activities will include:

Indoor projects:

• Painting Mural in hallways and cafeterias
  
• Painting rainbow lockers in classrooms Painting lockers
  
• Touch up painting in hallways and stairwells
  
• Painting classrooms and offices
  
• Repainting bathroom stalls
  

Outdoor projects will include:

• Planting trees, plants, and/or flowers
  
• Assisting with playground enhancements
  
• Painting exterior doors and railing
  
• Touching up exterior paint of building
  
• General Clean up and trash pickup
  
• Painting 4-squares, hop scotches, and/or American Maps on playground
  

Getting Started:

• Go to the DC Volunteers Servathon 2008 Website
  
• Fill out the registration information and sign up for the event
  
• RSVP "Yes" here
  * Indicated if you have paid
  * Indicate your preference in outside (w/George) or inside (W/Zarinah) projects
  
• Contact all of your friends and family and have them do the same!
  
• Show up on May 3rd!
  

Again, Servathon is a great opportunity to meet new people, see new parts of the region, and try something new. Remember GDCC's goal of mobilizing 3,000+ volunteers and our groups goal of raising 50+ volunteers so tell your family, friend, and co-workers about this great event.
